Acute Respiratory Unit(ARU)
You will be part of a dedicated team delivering a highstandard of nursing care to our respiratory patients. ARU is a 23 bedded unit plus an 8bedded high care area for non-invasive positive pressure ventilation and anIntervention Room for day case procedures.

Main duties of the job
Using your clinical experience and skills youwill work with your team as a named nurse to maintain accountability forassessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within theframework of team nursing.
Acting with compassion you will put patients atthe centre of all you do.
You will communicate effectively with patientsand their carers regarding their care and educate patients where there is aneed.
You will show commitment to sustaining anddeveloping your clinical competence and professional awareness.
This role will require you to work variable hoursin order to fulfil the needs of the ward.

Job description
Job responsibilities
To work according to the NMC Code and relevant professional guidelines and frameworks including the 6 Cs as a named nurse / key worker for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:The assessment of care and health education needs.
The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
To gain experience and skills in:
Clinical Practice
Facilitation and teaching
Management
To ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, carers and the multidisciplinary team. To participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator / mentor / preceptor / role model to less experienced staff. To provide supervision, support and education to unqualified staff and students. Person Specification

Registered Nurse on sub part 1 or 2 of the professional register.

Teaching and Assessing Qualification
Experience

Experience of working within a busy nursing team. Effective communicator both written and verbal.
