Role responsibilities

The Energy and Carbon Lead will be the technical specialist for energy and carbon management at Transport for Wales (TfW), leading on the implementation of our Energy Strategy ensuring the delivery of actions and projects designed to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and reduce cost.

Drive the implementation of the Energy Strategy and related plans across the organisation by leading collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to enable objectives and KPIs to be met and ensure our requirements are met in future energy contracts. Delivery of the Carbon Management Plan and associated policies by developing innovative solutions to reduce emissions from TfW’s activities by researching and disseminating current best practice and understanding around climate change mitigation. Analyse and report on TfW’s energy and utilities consumption using data from Stark, and compile carbon emission reports by collaborating with internal stakeholders to collate activity data from across the organisation to ensure legislative and remit carbon reporting commitments are met. Development and implementation of schemes aimed at reducing energy consumption across our estate by working alongside internal teams to ensure that renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions or initiatives are adopted across the organisation.

Who we’re looking for

Possess a Bachelors degree in a relevant subject, such as energy management, environmental science, climate science or geography or significant relevant experience in a similar role. Working towards membership of an accredited environmental body, such as Energy Institute or IEMA. Demonstrable experience of developing and leading the implementation of energy and carbon reduction projects. In depth knowledge and understanding of renewable energy, energy efficiency and carbon reduction.

Welsh Language Skills

The ability to speak/write Welsh would make a great addition to your application, but it is not essential for this role.
