Main duties of the job

The unit is a fast paced changing environment with referrals from primary care, emergency department, urgent care, midwifes and health visitors and also families who have open access to the unit to self-refer. Each day is always different which makes the area an ideal opportunity to learn and develop new skills

We have created a cohort of nursing staff to deliver high quality care to children and their families who come through the Paediatric Assessment Unit. No previous experience of working in an assessment unit is required as full training will be given, including training on Manchester Triage system.

We are a small but expanding team but are proud of the service we deliver. We work collectively as a team to constantly evaluate and improve our service where possible. We value everybody’s input and see all staff as having a vital role in the delivery of high class, safe and effective care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

‍️ Access, plan, implement, and evaluate care to meet patient’s needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence-based guidelines.

Support and provide patient education and health promotion.

Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation, and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff.

Assist in setting, monitoring, and maintaining standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
