Main duties of the job

So far as is consistent with proper discharge of the above duties the post holder will undertake to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.

The post holder will undertake to perform additional duties on occasions of emergencies and unforeseen post holder will undertake to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care

To maintain own professional registration through CPD as required by GMC and the medical comply with professional codes of conduct as defined by the GMCTo participate in clinical audit and research as agreed with ConsultantsTo support the training of pre and post registration doctors and other healthcare professional as appropriate.

About us

South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust provides acute and maternity services for the people of South Warwickshire and community services for the whole of Warwickshire, covering a population of 536,000. The Trust includes Warwick Hospital which is the main inpatient acute facility for South Warwickshire and community hospitals also based in the south of the county. The Trust is a CHKS top 40 hospital and consistently scores highly in the National Staff Survey.

The Trust runs community services for the whole county including a number of community and rehabilitation hospitals in Warwickshire. These hospitals see day patients and also offer inpatient care for those patients where a stay in an acute hospital is not necessary. The hospitals also play a role in providing rehabilitation for patients who have long-term conditions or are recovering from major operations or acute medical episodes.

Warwick Hospital Stratford Hospital Ellen Badger Hospital Leamington Spa Hospital - Central England Rehabilitation Unit

This site has 350 beds and houses the majority of the Trust's acute services including; Emergency Department services, Inpatient, Diagnostic and Pathology departments, Maternity and Special Care Baby Unit, Main Theatres and Day Surgery Theatres together with an Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit. Outpatient appointments are offered at Warwick and Stratford Hospitals.

Job responsibilities

This post will involve working as part of a team of doctors covering the specialties of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

Junior Staff are expected to make themselves available to cover in cases of occasion all emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.

Opportunities are available to attend day surgery and main theatre lists as well as working in Gynaecology emergency inpatients, labour ward and our post natal ward.

Regular training and other meetings are held in the department and juniors are encouraged to present audit and research which they have undertaken. Where possible, timetables will be modified to meet the training needs of the individual appointed.
