Junior Trust Specialist

Warwick, United Kingdom South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Appointees will work in Gastroenterology (Castle ward), within the trust during the term of the post. Opportunities to work in other medical specialties, may be available, depending on the service need. Post holders may be rotated between different medical specialties during their time with the Trust to fulfil service need and ensure a broad exposure to specialties.

This is a primarily ward-based position working a standard 40-hr week. On call is not included for this post.

In-patient Gastroenterology services are based on Castle ward, a 25 bedded General Medical/Gastroenterology ward. Castle has a heavy bias towards Gastroenterology. The ward operates a “self-admission” policy for patients known to the unit with specific gastrointestinal problems (IBD, chronic liver disease, GI malignancy in particular).

Out-patient gastroenterology is spread between the Warwick and Stratford sites with a progressive move towards specialisation (e.g. IBD clinic, hepatology, viral hepatitis, two-week wait, coeliac/nutrition clinic). We have a continuing commitment to developing patient education programmes in IBD and chronic liver disease.

With our central location and great transport links we’re closer than you might think. We are located in the heart of England with easy access to the motorway network and a good railway service. Warwickshire is accessible from a number of nearby cities including Birmingham, Leicester, Northampton, Oxford and Worcestershire.

Surrounded by a collection of picturesque towns and villages, there is always a lot to see and do across the County. Numerous sport and leisure venues, theatres, parks and great shopping facilities make Warwickshire an idyllic place to work and live.

As well as enjoying where you work, we want all of our staff to lead happy and healthy lives. That’s why we offer a number of benefits to support this, such as flexible working opportunities, and onsite subsidised restaurant at our hospitals in Warwick and Leamington Spa as well as a number of recognition awards.

Our Trust is a CQC ‘Outstanding’ rated organisation and is the lead provider for South Warwickshire, planning and delivering for the communities within this geographical place. The Trust is ranked a CHKS top 40 hospital and consistently scores highly in the National NHS Staff Survey.
