The Consultant will be supported by a team of experienced Urology Clinical Nurse Specialists, who provide a 2ww Haematuria service and carry out flexible cystoscopies, Urodynamic studies and prostate biopsies. They are also responsible for LUTS assessments; Lithotripsy and stone disease follow up clinics, andrology and erectile dysfunction treatment and run a dedicated Urology Unit.

Our Urology ward is covered by two junior doctors, 2 FY2 doctors and 2 Specialty doctors. There is a Specialist Registrar as part of the West midlands rotation. The service itself is supported by two interventional Radiologists and a local multidisciplinary meeting with a visiting Oncologist.

The post holder will be part of the substantive on call rota, the current rota is Monday - Thursday or Friday - Sunday.

The Urology unit at Warwick Hospital is leading in surgical treatments for BPH, including Bipolar TURP, Urolift, Rezum and green light laser prostatectomy. The department was one of the first to introduce Urolift and Rezum procedures and has performed most of them in the region. We are planning to continue to pioneer innovative prostatic procedures. We have a well-established stone management service.

We are one of the few centres in the West Midlands to offer local anaesthetic Transperineal Prostate Biopsy-as a ‘one-stop-service’.
- To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
- To take on appropriate management responsibilities, and lead in developments appropriate to interests and experience of the new appointee.
- To take an active part in teaching and training.
- To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development.
- To contribute to the research and development of the department.
- To provide cover for Consultant colleagues as appropriate and in accordance with local Trust arrangements and Trust Policy.
- To accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately.
- To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of patients to be able to contact you when necessary
