What will you be doing? 

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the IT department for a Technical Analyst (FTC for 24 months).  This role will be based in Head Office and will be a blend of office and home working.

You will report to the IT Operations Lead, and be responsible for improving and maintaining an enterprise’s information technology system. The role is tasked with examining the function of computer systems, identifying problems and areas for improvement in execution, and designing solutions. The role of the Technical Analyst will be to support this change and to create conditions for a smooth transition to ‘business as usual’.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing second line support to our business users on all core applications, including progressing incidents, troubleshooting, requests and changes both internally and with third party IT support providers.

  • Take responsibility for the resolution of incidents ensuring 1st and 2nd line resolution is achieved, within agreed SLAs.

  • Involved in the design process of a new or to be updated application, to support the gathering of the business requirements (when applicable), testing and rolling out the new functionality or applications;

  • Designing a solution in line with specifications given by stakeholders;

  • Implementing configuration and taking it live to staff members, offering support services for users, coaching users with the business and IT;

  • Make configuration changes to implement a new functionality or application;

  • Propose automation first and/or efficient solutions to business users and managers.

  • Work with our suppliers and internal development teams in incidents and change management processes;

  • Support research, analysis and implementation of new processes;

  • Support the delivery of business projects to agreed standards and deadlines, ensuring key stakeholder engagement;

  • Manage the testing phase – creation of test scenarios, cases, and evidence. Update business process to reflect the new ‘to-be’ process and share with stakeholder for review and approval.

  • Ensure lessons learned during change and project implementations are captured and reported;

  • Support the transition to ‘business as usual’, ensuring testing, documentation, training, support and benefits realisation processes are in place and change initiatives are widely supported.

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree in an IT related discipline

  • Commercial experience in Sopra Banking solution – Summit / Activate / Frontline

  • Commercial experience in IT support / Service Desk environment – 1st line or 2nd line application support – logging, investigating and resolution or

  • Experience in application support, configuration, and testing

  • Liaison with 3rd parties and other relevant organisations

  • Analytical and collaborative approach to problem solving and ability to write comprehensive requirements

  • A minimum of 2 days in our Head Office in Belfast and flexibility around the other days in the office is required

Desirable Criteria:

  • Practical experience of SQL language – SQL query writing

  • SaaS administrator (focusing on configuration)

  • Practical experience in unix / linux

  • Knowledge and understanding of the ITIL framework
