Invicro is the world’s leading translational imaging company. With sites spread across the UK and the US, Invicro specialises in molecular and functional imaging studies to support medical and pharmaceutical research. The London site operates a unique clinical and pre-clinical imaging centre with state-of-the-art PET and MRI technology used to support preclinical and clinical research. Invicro London has two cyclotrons and 24 hot cells enabling development and imaging with a wide range of PET radiotracers and is located on the Hammersmith Hospital site in West London. We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking radiochemist to join our team and help with the development of novel PET biomarkers and their evaluation in preclinical imaging studies.
The role:
We are seeking a candidate who will deliver radiochemistry expertise to enable preclinical PET/SPECT imaging studies at the Invicro Hammersmith hospital site.
The key responsibilities are:
Performing labelling feasibility assessment using a variety of isotopes (C-11, F-18 and radiometals) using either established labelling methodologies or requiring development or implementation of new radiolabelling methodologies. Managing and delivering PET/SPECT radiochemistry projects to agreed timelines (radiolabelling feasibility and tracer implementation, routine syntheses to support use and/or characterization in preclinical species of known or novel radiotracers) Providing scientific and technical input on radiolabeling feasibility strategies. Preparing technical/project reports and scientific presentations. Writing and maintaining document records to ensure compliance with GxP standards.To be considered for this position you will ideally have:
Ph.D. in relevant field (e.g. organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry) with preferably knowledge in PET/SPECT radiochemistry and prior experience working with carbon-11, fluorine-18 and radiometals. Ability to independently plan and design own experiments, interpret the data and draw conclusions. Ability to identify problems, troubleshoot and create and implement workable solutions. Knowledge of reaction optimization, purification, development of suitable quality control procedures (e.g. HPLC, GC, LC-MS, etc) and radiometabolite analysis. Understanding of the unique aspects pertaining to the radiation safety, GxP and other aspects related to the development of novel and established PET/SPECT radiotracers. Good understanding of pre-clinical and clinical PET/SPECT imaging is preferred. Knowledge of radiochemistry automation and synthesis devices with particular relevance to PET chemistry is preferred. Strong innovation skills to develop new approaches and seek continuous methodologies improvement. Ability to set priorities and determine requirements so multiple tasks are achieved and multiple projects are efficiently managed in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and to assimilate a working knowledge of areas outside of their core competency.
