Are you an experienced Registered Midwife looking to develop into your next role? We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our Community Midwifery team in the role of Deputy Team successful candidate will work in a supportive team based in the role offers the opportunity to develop your skills within a leadership role. Our Deputy Team Managers play a key role in the co-ordination of the service on a daily basis, as well as contributing to service development and strategy. Develop community midwifery practice for the future, to redefine the role and build on public health skills to maximise the impact to reduce inequalities in health.
Ensure that all women have a satisfactory experience.
Evaluate patient processes and redesign the pathway of care as necessary Improve the experience of childbirth for all by offering them the choice of place of birth and involving them in their care.
Support the Manager in the ongoing management of rosters to provide appropriate safe staff cover.
Support the Manager with sickness and absence monitoring as per Trust policy.
Perform staff appraisals.
Incident management/investigations.
Facilitate regular team meetings.
Take part in the recruitment and selection process.
Maximise opportunities offered through improved partnership working in Children Centres and with other agencies.

The Community Midwifery team covers a number of bases across Nottingham and South Nottinghamshire. The service delivers high quality care to all women and their families, and we are pro-active in facilitating choice over place of delivery.
You will be based within a team of midwives and be required to work with the team to ensure the safety of the women and families under their care.
You will be required to travel daily to other areas within Nottingham/shire and therefore, a car owner/driver is essential.
Free parking is available at many of the Health Centres we work from.
The post will cover a 24 hour/7 day service.

Communication and Team working
To effectively communicate complicated and sensitive information to women, their families and members of a multi-disciplinary team.
Adhere to and encourage others to utilise appropriate NMC and local standards for record keeping and all written documentation ensuring client and colleague confidentiality at all times.
Deal appropriately with positive and negative feedback from women, recognising the wider implications for the team.
Ensure changes are implemented based on feedback and learning lessons.
Work as a supportive team member to develop a working environment that encourages team working amongst staff.
Identify and minimise interpersonal conflicts that may affect team or individual performance.
Provide cover for colleagues as necessary, including out of hours coveron a rotational basis, ensuring appropriate liaison to maintain continuity of care.
Able to demonstrate effective multi-disciplinary team working skills and abilities to ensure agreed objectives are achieved.
Utilises others to address challenges within the working team.
Liaise, communicate and work in partnership with a variety of multi-agency teams
Contribute to the performance management of community midwifery by ensuring data collection and audit information is submitted in a timely manner.
Have an awareness of when to escalate concerns to the team manager
Clinical Care
Provide evidence based midwifery care to women and their babies with the responsibility for assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
Able to manage effectively all aspects of caseload management and administration
Working in partnership with women and their partners, offer opportunities for them to make well informed decisions about their care throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
Able to implement changes in midwifery practice to improve health outcomes for mothers and their babies.
To work autonomously within guidelines, policies and procedures and spheres of professional practice when carrying out midwifery care. Contribute to their development, implementation and evaluation.
Work within Nottingham City Safeguarding Childrens Board procedures at all times. Know how to record and share information and understand the differences between information sharing on individual, organisational and professional levels.
Utilise multi-agency frameworks and child protection assessment processes including the use of the common assessment framework.
Work in partnership with other agencies to provide effective parent education programmes.
Able to manage effectively expectations of women and their families.
Prescribe medication within your scope of competence, in accordance with legislation, national and local guidelines, when registered as a Non-Medical Prescriber on the relevant professional register.
Undertake examination of the newborn within your scope of competence.
Personal and professional conduct
Maintain professional competence and knowledge through appraisal, statutory supervision, training and reflective practice in accordance with Nottingham City
PCT and NMC requirements.
Ensure awareness and adherence to PCT Policies and Procedures including Health and Safety legislation, administration and storage of drugs, clinical incident reporting, infection control and data protection.
Resource/Change Management
Working with the team managers and deputies to ensure effective use of resources staff, equipment, and time.
Proactively involved in innovation and implementation of change.
Encourage staff to be involved in service changes and developments using processes defined within the directorate.
Participating in the development of standard operating procedures and guidelines.
Education/ Research
Under go mandatory training relevant to safe midwifery practice Managing obstetric emergencies.
Provide leadership, support and preceptorship to other staff as required.
Identify and evaluate new ways of improving performance and implementing
evidence-based care for women.
Teach both registered and non-registered staff and act as practice assessor/supervisor to student midwives completing appropriate documentation as necessary.
Contribute to induction programmes for new staff, acting as a preceptor to assist in their orientation and integration into the team.
Participate in the evaluation of education programmes offered. Become involved in local training and development programmes as appropriate.
Monitor and maintain quality and effectiveness of midwifery practice through implementing evidence based practice and by participating in clinical audit, patient satisfaction surveys and research/trials as required to meet the needs of the service and to improve womens care.
Involvement in identifying opportunities for staff to access appropriate learning opportunities.
