Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Haematopathology (HODS), to be placed in the Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service (HODS) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Histopathology or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.

Leadership is a key requirement of doctors' professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.
About us
The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Job description
Job responsibilities
The main duties of this post include reporting bone marrow trephine biopsies, lymph node biopsies and other relevant solid tissue samples in the context of a Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (SIHMDS). Applicants should have experience of independent integrated reporting of Haematopathology specimens, preferably within a SIHMDS or equivalent.
The successful candidate will join an established team of consultant, scientific and technical staff to support the diagnosis and management of haematological malignancies. HODS is a UKAS-accredited SIHMDS which acts as the primary referral centre in East Anglia for patients with known or suspected haematological malignancies. The service works closely with the East Genomic Laboratory Hub on site at Cambridge University Hospitals. Strong links also exist with the multiple Cambridge University research groups working on haematological malignancies.
Applicants should have competence in reporting haematopathology specimens including bone marrow trephine biopsies, lymph node biopsies and other relevant solid tissue samples; experience of multimodality haematopathology testing including molecular assays; and an interactive approach to working with clinical, laboratory and academic colleagues.
