Were looking for a Lead Band 8 Physiotherapist to join The Portland Hospital, currently rated Good by the CQC.

Main duties of the job

The role involves providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and interventions to your own caseload of children with complex needs and responsibility for the clinical development of staff and the growth and development of the service appropriate to the needs of the hospital. Therefore, solid clinical, leadership and communication skills are required.

To carry out administrative duties and delegated responsibilities as requested by the Head of Therapies to assist in the day-to-day organization of the service, management and patient care. All staff are expected to respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of clients and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.

Job responsibilities

To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of work undertaken. To work within the standards and guidelines of the team, the Hospital, CSP, HCPC code of ethics.

To autonomously manage a complex caseload of approximately 30-50% billable units per day.

To use expert clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and advanced objective assessment skills for children with complex difficulties.

To undertake specialist physiotherapy assessment of clients with complex needs, multiple co-morbidities, acute and chronic conditions, combined physical & cognitive impairment or delay, social and/or behavioral difficulties. For example: children with acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, autism, motor co-ordination difficulties, developmental delay. To use appropriate methods, through subjective questioning and advanced examination techniques to assess their physiotherapy needs.

To provide supervision to junior and senior therapists supporting, advising and enabling them to critically evaluate their physiotherapy goals, treatment/interventions and modify as necessary, to provide high standards of physiotherapy clinical practice

To support the Head of Therapies in overseeing the organisation and management of the Paediatric and Womens Health Physiotherapy team, including setting priorities, identifying shortfalls and issues to be addressed as well as developing the most cost-effective ways of working that ensures continued quality including monitoring of staff hours and productivity

Qualifications

Essential

BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy (or equivalent) Current registered member of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) At least 6 years' experience working as a Paediatric Physiotherapist in acute, community and / or education setting Previous experience of people management and leading a team Knowledge and application of paediatric physio assessments and interventions relevant to a Paediatric client group. Maintenance of up-to-date knowledge regarding developments in the field of paediatrics pertaining to your field of work
