Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and versatile Clinical Nurse Specialist with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to join our Hospice at Home team. A minimum of 30 hours is required for this role.

We also offer a bespoke training package over a six month to twelve-month period to develop into the role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist if more relevant. This role would start as a Band 6, with a review of the banding to be considered after the training.

Main duties of the job

You will be motivated, a flexible thinker, and able to adapt to new ways of providing care to reach more patients within the community. Youll have excellent communication skills and enjoy working alongside a multidisciplinary team to assess the needs of patients, families, and carers.

You should have a relevant degree or diploma or be in the process of undertaking one. Palliative care or oncology experience is essential.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work under the supervision of aCommunity Clinical Nurse Specialist to:

Promote, plan and facilitate the delivery of high standards ofpalliative care to patients and their carers in the community setting. Participate in clinical and education activities related to developingspecialist palliative care in the community. Sustain and develop the relationship between The Princess Alice Hospice HospiceCommunity Team and the Primary Healthcare Teams and others involved in caringfor the patients/families receiving palliative care support. Identify written personal objectives, relevantto developing professional practice for this role. Person Specification

Personal Qualities and other requirements

Essential

Flexible, motivated, self-directed. Pleasant and calm manner. Ability to work under pressure. Ability to work well within a team. Car driver/full driving licence. Cover on-call rota including weekends and bank holidays. Awareness of, and commitment to the Mission, Vision and Values of the Hospice.

Experience

Desirable

Post registration experience. Palliative care, oncology or community experience. Interest in research/audit. Experience in mentoring P2k and post-basic student. Clinical supervision experience. Community experience.

Specialist Knowledge

Essential

Evidence of continuing professional development. Knowledge of current healthcare and nursing policy and provision. Understanding of specialist palliative care provision.

Qualifications

Essential

Current NMC Registration/registered. RGN qualification. Teaching qualification (ENB 998 or equivalent). Relevant degree or diploma or in the process of undertaking same. Palliative Care Diploma or equivalent. Community qualification. Palliative Care Degree.
