Management of incidents, requests and changes within the Linux team and carry out regular 1-2-1's with team members identify training requirements within the team Work collaboratively across our team to design, build and maintain mission critical systems Maintenance and production of technical documentation to facilitate knowledge share and skills development Represent the team at key ITIL process touch points including change advisory boards, problem management, technical design authority, major incident management when required Provide hands-on engineering support and expertise to complex technical activities such as root cause analysis, troubleshooting, project recovery/remediation plans and technical risk assessments Work with engineers to assure that infrastructure is maintained with the latest firmware and software requirements Monitor and report the overall performance of service components against KPI’s and take pre-emptive measures to minimise interruptions Provide technical expertise for engineering activities across the team Lead on project work for the Linux team Look for opportunities to enhance the service provided to the client Evaluate new technologies and platforms to determine whether their applicability aligns with business’s needs To be aware of the relevant SLA structure and to respond, fix or escalate according to the limits set out within that structure Contribute to the activities relating to strategic IT projects including business case development, technology assessments, high level design work, due diligence and other activities related to the future technologies Responsible for technical risk assessments and technical approval activities for Projects, Change Management and Problem Management Take a lead on any new environments being brought into the teams scope, developing processes and maintenance plans as part of the onboarding

What you will bring:

Working experience in Ansible Automation Platform version 2 Strong knowledge of Linux Operating Systems such as RedHat Enterprise Linux and derivatives (6, 7, 8 and 9 would be good) Working knowledge or working with Ansible and Git (command line, Gitlab or bitbucket) Working knowledge of Virtualisation, such as VMware ESXi Demonstrable experience of working with Red Hat Satellite 6 and above Knowledge of Unix Storage filesystems and access protocols (XFS/NFS), Specifically, LVM2 Solid understanding of Linux scripting and command line usage, such as bash Troubleshooting, Diagnostics & Event Log/Management Working experience with Anti-Virus within Linux OS Experience applying ITIL methodology Technical Documentation and Processes, using tools such as Confluence and Jira Working knowledge of Monitoring tools such as CheckMK

It would be great if you had:

Experience involving multiple Operating System vendors Working knowledge of Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira Knowledge of HPE Storage Technologies (FC/iSCSI/NFS protocols) Knowledge of LAN/WAN Technologies Willing to work out of hours when required Experience in increasing automation in management, deployment and operations of servers, providing PoCs for cloud-like functionality and edge datacentres and looking into providing a solution for in-memory computing. RHCSA certification on RedHat
