Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux Engineering Lead to join our team at Shared Services Connected Ltd. As a key member of our Linux team, you will be responsible for managing incidents, requests, and changes within the team, as well as providing hands-on engineering support and expertise to complex technical activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the Linux team's activities, ensuring timely and effective resolution of incidents and requests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain mission-critical systems.
  • Develop and maintain user documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and skills development within the team.
  • Represent the team at key ITIL process touch points, including change advisory boards, problem management, and technical design authority.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to complex activities, such as root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and project recovery/remediation plans.
  • Work with engineers to ensure infrastructure is maintained with the latest firmware and software requirements.
Requirements
  • Working experience in Ansible Automation Platform version 2.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux Operating Systems, including RedHat Enterprise Linux and derivatives.
  • Solid understanding of Ansible and Git, including command-line, Gitlab, or bitbucket.
  • Working knowledge of Virtualisation, such as VMware ESXi.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with Red Hat Satellite 6 and above.
  • Knowledge of Unix Storage filesystems and access protocols, including XFS/NFS and LVM2.
Desirable Skills
  • Working knowledge of Atlassian tools, including Confluence and Jira.
  • Knowledge of HPE Storage Technologies, including FC/iSCSI/NFS protocols.
  • RHCSA certification on RedHat.
About the Role

This is a full-time position based in Stevenage with some remote working options. We offer a competitive salary of £55-60,000 per annum, as well as a range of benefits, including 25 days annual leave, health cash plan, life assurance, pension, and flexible benefits fund.
