Job summary

There is a post of Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in Diabetes, and Endocrinology coming up to join the existing team of 14 Consultants. this is a 12 months fixed term position to commence in September 2024

Post holder should be able to provide acute paediatric emergency and ambulatory care and provide Consultant of the week cover on Paediatric as well as take on-call in both acute Paediatrics and Neonatology (level 2)

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited for WTE 12 months fixed term contract Consultant Paediatricians to join 14 other Acute Paediatricians in the department. The post will be based in the Paediatric Department at Broomfield Foundation Trust.

There is an expectation that the post holder will have an experience, in Diabetes, and Endocrinology. There will also be an opportunity for the successful candidates to undertake and develop expertise in other areas as per their clinical interest as above. There is also an opportunity for a paediatrician with special interest in child safeguarding to develop their role and develop into the named doctor in the near future.

On call: With these posts the on-call commitments will become 1 in 12 and diabetic on-call 1:7

Job responsibilities

Weekly Timetable :

The changing nature of the contracting process makes it essential that all consultants have a flexible approach to working arrangements which may include innovative working patterns, including 7-day working in the future. The job plan will be reviewed at regular intervals following the initial appointment.

The job plan (for a full-time contract) will consist of the following (provisional timetable below):

Direct Clinical Care: PAs on average per week

(Includes clinical activity, clinical related administrative activity, predictable and unpredictable work)

Supporting Professional Activities: PAs on average per week

(Includes CPD, audit, teaching and research)
