Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Strategic Programme for Planned Care for a lead role to support the development and implementation of the National Cancer Recovery Programme.

The programme is part of NHS Wales' response to Welsh Government's plan for 'Transforming and modernising planned care and reducing waiting lists' in Wales. It is aimed at leading and co-ordinating supportive actions to aid recovery of cancer services from the Covid pandemic, while ensuring that interventions and commitments implemented in the immediate term align with foreseeable future demand and the shift towards optimised delivery models and long-term sustainable transformation.

We are seeking experienced dynamic managers, to lead a broad remit of programmes and workstreams with national strategic impact. The post provides a real and exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the outcomes and experience of cancer patients in Wales.

Main duties of the job

The role is focused on supporting and enabling the change required to meet the objectives of the National Cancer Recovery Programme. The programme will support health boards and trusts to deliver more efficient and productive cancer pathways, by identifying and implementing changes that will help improve care and patient outcomes, as well as deliver efficiencies such as the reduction of unnecessary diagnostics and interventions and improved timeliness of pathways.
