Job summary

This is an appointment for 12 months at King's College Hospital.Applications are invited from surgeons at all levels with an interest in Orthopaedic fellow will participate as an integral member of the Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics for 12 months with a central role in themanagement of specialist trauma. The Fellow will work with many skilled and experienced Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeons. Globaldevelopment as a capable and versatile trauma surgeon will include engagement with a dedicated clinical supervisor. The Fellow will participate inteaching (undergraduates medical students and junior doctors), audit and the research portfolio, including conduct of National Institute for Healthand Care Research (NIHR) trials. Submission of at least one publication is expected.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will spend 12 months at the Trust in order to undertake research in Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery. There is flexibility in thisarrangement to meet the educational requirements of the Fellow will not be on the formal on-call rota. There will be opportunity to work with the Orthopaedic on-call team and the General TraumaSurgeons, Anaesthetists, Intensivists, Radiologists, Pre-hospital Care providers and other specialists to appreciate the multi-disciplinary inputneeded to effectively manage the Major Trauma Patient. The post holder will be expected to liaise with other London Major Trauma Centres todevelop collaborative research post will have integrated teaching and research commitments. S/he will be contributing to the junior doctor's and the undergraduate teachingprogramme. There will be also opportunities to develop their management post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and well-being and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within thehospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post to observe the rules, policies,procedures and standards of King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust together with relevant statutory and professional Fellow will be supported by Mr Vasireddy, Ms Reichert and the broader team within the department, including the senior leadership and theresearch team.

Job responsibilities

The appointee will spend 12 months at the Trust in order to undertake Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery and research work. There will be opportunity to work alongside the Orthopaedic on-call team in order to develop theirknowledge and skills in managing the critically injured will also be an opportunity to work alongside the Trauma Surgeons (General Surgeons), Anaesthetists, Intensivists, Radiologists, PrehospitalCare providers and other specialists in order to appreciate the multi-disciplinary input needed to effectively manage the Major post will have integrated teaching and research commitments. The postholder will be expected to liaise with other London Major TraumaCentres (such as The Royal London Hospital) in order develop collaborative research is also responsible for overseeing the junior doctors teaching programme. There will also be numerous opportunities to develop onesmanagement portfolio. For instance, one can enrol on management and leadership programmes at post holder has a general duty of care for their own health, safety and well being and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients within thehospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post. To observe the rules,policies, procedures and standards of Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust together with all relevant statutory and Fellow will be supported by Mr Vasireddy, Ms Reichert and the broader team within the department, which includes the senior leadershipteam and the research team.
