Job summary

What is the role?

You will be working within the service which is co located at West Suffolk Hospital. You will support the clinicians who are working on shift with all aspects of administration. You will be involved in a variety of tasks, such as; time keeping of appointments, creating referrals, and communicating to patients.

Youll join our Emergency Department Streaming service, which is delivered by Suffolk GP Federation. We are a not-for-profit, community interest company and our main purpose is to support Primary Care across Suffolk, including support with working collaboratively and at scale. We also deliver a portfolio of NHS services across Suffolk and North East Essex, including Podiatry, Ultrasound, Diabetes, as well as Urgent Care Services including the Out of Hours face-to-face Service in Suffolk.

Main duties of the job

Is it for me?

Youd be suited to this role if you have high levels of patient/customer focused service. You will need good problem-solving skills, and clear communication skills in order to succeed in this role. If you have worked within a healthcare setting before this would be an advantage, however is not essential to your application. We will work alongside the successful candidate to ensure they are sufficiently inducted and trained; there will be regular constructive supervision in place. It is important to us that you feel safe and supported in the role.

Job responsibilities

Job Purpose

To provide administrative support to GPs, Nurses and other Healthcare Professionals working withinthe emergency department streaming unit.Main Duties & Responsibilities To be responsible for all aspects of administration, working to deliver an effective and efficientservice for our patients. Ensure the effective management of appointments; alerting the clinicians to any issues,ensuring the patient wait times are kept to a minimum where possible and that patients arebooked with the most appropriate clinician. Ensuring that referrals are created, patients are registered and referrals ended correctly.Ensure that all consultations are, where relevant, communicated back to the patients practice. Oversee the reception area and ensure that patients waiting are communicated to effectivelyand their needs are responded to as and when required, alerting the clinicians to any casesthat have become urgent. Provide IT support to clinical staff, including training on SystmOne if required and liaising withIT Helpdesk as and when needed. Respond to and deal with any issues that arise, escalating to the clinician and/or On CallManager as necessary. Be aware of and ensure adherence to organisational policies, in particular, PrescriptionSecurity, Safeguarding and Information Governance
