The Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is responsible for the delivery of health services to more than 600,000 people in South East Wales. The Grange University Hospital in Llanfrechfa deals with all major emergencies and treat and care for those needing complex, specialist or critical includes a 24-hour Emergency Department and Assessment Unit dealing with emergencies and resuscitation cases and has a broad range of diagnostic services, operating theatres, and a consultant-led obstetric unit.

This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team on the Unit and be actively involved in providing high standards of quality care. You will also be expected to demonstrate a high level of nursing assessment and clinical care skills by supporting band 5 registered nurses and 2 HCSW's in their professional development within this dedicated environment.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and forward-thinking nurse to lead this team. You will be expected to oversee and facilitate safe, effective and timely discharges of patients and provide support and advice to patients, their families and their careers.

Job description

Job responsibilities

C4 is a specialised 31 bedded unit caring for patients with a range of acute and chronic respiratory conditions. It comprises of 8 monitored high care beds to deliver more intensive nursing care at a ratio of 1:2 using state of the art equipment. Our highly skilled nursing team is trained in non-invasive ventilation, tracheostomy care and chest drain management and is are looking at developing much further in our skills and knowledge.

This is a dual role, where clinical and managerial combine, it will allow you to develop in both directions running not just the high care unit but assisting to run the ward.

You will also be expected to demonstrate a high level of nursing assessment and clinical care skills by supporting band 5 registered nurses and 2 HCSWs in their professional development within this dedicated environment.
