Job Overview

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is on the lookout for a dedicated Band 5 Registered Nurse to enhance our dynamic maternity team.

We are proud to provide comprehensive care to women and birthing individuals in a modern, purpose-built facility. Our maternity services are designed to ensure a supportive and safe environment for all patients.

Our hospital features private rooms for all women/birthing individuals during their antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care. Additionally, we operate a successful tranquil alongside birth centre, which averages around 70-80 births monthly, catering to both obstetric-led and midwifery-led care options. We also have midwife-led birthing areas available at other facilities.

This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, safe care for women throughout their pregnancy, during childbirth, and in the postnatal phase.

Key Responsibilities

- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with established pathways.

- Serve as a patient advocate, applying ethical, legal, and professional knowledge and skills.

- Adhere to established policies and procedures.

- Participate in data collection for internal audits and clinical research.

- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.

- Maintain accurate records and documentation standards.

- Proficiency in Welsh is desirable; however, candidates fluent in either Welsh or English are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities

- Assist senior midwifery staff in managing the Labour Ward, Theatres, Obstetric High Dependency Unit, and Obstetric Post Operative Support Ward on a shift basis.

- Take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

- Develop an understanding of the Strategic Vision for Maternity Services in Wales.
