Teaching Personnel are working with a secondary school in Portsmouth who are seeking a learning support assistant who is passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives.

The ssuccessful candidate will play a key role in supporting students across the school, both in the classroom and through targeted small group interventions.
Key responsiblities:
- Support students in whole-class settings, helping them to engage fully in lessons and reach their potential.
- Provide one-to-one and small group interventions for students requiring additional support, adapting learning materials to suit individual needs.
- Assist teaching staff in creating an inclusive learning environment, offering practical support to ensure all students can access the curriculum.
- Monitor student progress and report on their development to teachers and senior staff, helping to tailor support strategies.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement, fostering independence and confidence in learning.
- Support students with specific learning needs, including those with SEN, by providing tailored assistance in accordance with their learning plans.
- Help prepare classroom materials and resources to ensure lessons run smoothly.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be organised, proactive, and committed to the role of supporting students.
- Have previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar educational setting.
- Be able to work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider school team.
- Have a patient, empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for helping students overcome barriers to learning.
- Be flexible and adaptable, able to support students with a range of abilities and needs.
- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
