Devon Air Ambulance provides critical, life-saving emergency medical services across the vast county of Devon. When every second counts, getting the specialist skills of our Critical Care Doctors and Paramedics to the scene is paramount.

The entire Devon Air Ambulance Team work towards this incredibly important mission, from our income generating fundraising and retail teams, our support functions at Head Office and our vast group of volunteers and supporters.

About the role:

With the retirement of our current CEO in March 2025, we are looking for our new Chief Executive to lead our organisation through transformational change. This is an exciting time to be joining our organisation, and on your ‘to-do list’ will be:

  • The development of digital – how it can enhance our operations and how we communicate both internally and externally
  • Culture and people development
  • Community and public engagement
  • Continue to enhance our service delivery
  • Income generation
  • Capital project to build a new combined HQ and airbase near Exeter Airport.

About You:

With a passion for our purpose and a connection to our mission, you will be a leader who brings a proven track record to lead transformational change in our organisation.

You may not know about all the technical and operational aspects of our organisation, but you will possess the leadership qualities to lead our multi-disciplinary teams and have the skills, knowledge, and capability to bring them together to deliver a significant change programme in a sensitive, authentic, and people-focused way.

Your skills and capabilities will include:

  • Proven leadership track record in driving transformational change as a CEO or Senior Director in a complex organisation operating in a regulated environment
  • Track record of effective strategic thinking, planning and the ability to deliver clear long-term objectives
  • Proven experience in leading, driving and sustaining a highly collaborative and unified culture enabling high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Understanding of how digital can play a part in enhancing operational effectiveness, efficiencies and communication
  • Financially literate with a proven ability in building financial sustainability; bringing a blend of effective commercial, entrepreneurial and financial acumen alongside an ability to support income generation in a charity setting as well as leading capital-building projects
  • Experience of being an inspiring organisational ambassador with a proven ability to influence, engage and enthuse a range of diverse audiences
