Job Description

Lead Financial Controller

Location: Leeds, Thorpe Park, Hybrid working.

As Lead Financial Controller, you’ll be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the actuals within the P&L and Balance Sheet, explaining basic variances to budget/forecast/prior year and, by reviewing accounting entries and reconciliations ensuring that all relevant accruals, provisions and other similar entries have been accurately processed giving a robust balance sheet position.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Ensure that relevant activity is optimised, in a controlled environment, deliver the critical elements of quality (relevance and reliability of information) and timeliness. Including, sourcing and analysis of financial information, reporting and explanation of performance and understanding and agreeing the requirements of internal customers.Lead up c.6 FTE. Manage, coach and develop a high performing team.Own the month-end timetable, liaising with stakeholders across finance.Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are prepared on a monthly basis and be responsible for signing-off their review.Ensure the maintenance of sufficient, effective and efficient processes and systems; including the identification and implementation of opportunities to streamline and automate processes.Understand what support cost managers require from Finance Business Partners to enable them to truly own and lead their own cost base by providing training and education alongside management information, where appropriate.

What we need from you:

Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing finance team with differing skills and abilities.Detailed knowledge of the main Microsoft applications.Experience of working in a deadline-driven, multi-disciplined, financial reporting environment in a medium-sized or large organisation.Proven ability to manage own workload and that of a team to ensure that activities are correctly prioritised and that all interested parties are aware of responsibilities, deadlines and progress.Strong knowledge of management and financial accounting principles and be well-versed in approaches and techniques, including IFRS.
