Your new role

Hitachi Rail have a great opportunity for an experience Data Analyst to join our Procurement & Supply chain functions. At the Data Analyst you will be responsible for supporting development and implementation of business intelligence datasets, reports and dashboards, to enable measurement, planning, forecasting and control of Procurement and Supply Chain Operations.

We are looking for a technical minded individual who will bring new ideas, suggestions and improvements to our processes and procedures and someone who thrives working collaboratively with other business functions to help deliver business success.

Other role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Using Power BI Desktop and Premium to deliver effective business intelligence solutions Engaging with internal customers to support effective user interaction, and champion the use of business intelligence within daily Procurement and Supply Chain Operations Contributing to management briefing reports & presentations to internal / external customers Collaborating with BI team to pursue effective BI development and efficient use of shared data BI development best practices to support delivery of analytical reporting: Identifying procurement and supply chain information needs and opportunities, and translating into effective, documented BI specifications Understanding of SAP core modules and data elements, basics of SQL server, and methods for accessing other source data / systems (e.g. CSV, XLS, SharePoint, OLEDB / ODBC, Web APIs) Understanding and compliance with Hitachi data governance principles and controls. Using existing dataflows, and contributing to enhancement of standardised dataflows. Developing basic data models; managing table relationships, adding calculated columns / measures. Contributing to enhancement of existing data models. Contributing to establishing and maintaining data dictionaries, and ensuring standardised terminology and semantics are used across all report content. Creating and enhancing reports and dashboards within consistent, best practice user experience guidelines Supporting testing accuracy and integrity of reports to meet audit, functional and non-functional requirements Supporting rollout of report content, including publishing, communicating and end user training. Understanding and compliance with user access and security restrictions. Understanding and monitoring usage reporting, to steer development, communication and training requirements Ability to understand and support maintenance of legacy information systems (e.g. SQL queries, VBA code) Performing ad-hoc data analysis to support transient / priority business requirements

About you

User of Power BI to a high standard, including "M" (power Query language) and "DAX" User of Excel to a high standard, including VBA, charting, pivot tables etc. Understanding data modelling principles Understanding of Procurement and Supply Chain processes and operations within a manufacturing environment would be desirable Strong work ethic, highly motivated, able to work with minimum supervision with the ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Good organisation/time management Enjoys challenges and problem solving
