Barts Pharmacy Department have a highly exciting opportunity for an ambitious and forward thinking individual to lead our Critical Care clinical pharmacy agenda at the largest trauma centre in the country. 

We are on the frontline in London's response to COVID-19 and rapidly expanding our critical care capacity in response to demand in London. We lead the trauma network for NE London and Essex. It is a leading specialist centre with an international reputation for caring for some of the most seriously injured patients in London and beyond. In addition to trauma at RLH, we also provides specialist care in neurosciences, a hyper-acute stroke centre, and acute general medical, along with surgical and obstetric services.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering a clear strategy and vision for the delivery and transformation of our critical care clinical pharmacy service so that it is fit for the future. Success will be a highly satisfied and engaged workforce, who are able to support the care of patients flexibly and sustainably, regardless of situation encountered. 

As a senior pharmacist in the department, you will be an integral to the leadership team, with departmental responsibility in improving and ensuring the highest standard care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

To have direct and positive impact improving both patient experience and safe effective services associated with medicines use in critical care through:

·Providing an expert clinical pharmacy service to patients of Barts Health and beyond

·Developing and advancing clinical pharmacy practice and medicines optimisation services across the Trust and related local health economies (NEL).

·Leading, developing and facilitating pharmacy practice/medicines optimisation research, quality improvement and service evaluation/review within the critical care setting

·Designing and delivering specialist critical care medicines management training and education to multidisciplinary Trust staff and students within the Trust and local higher education institutions.

·To act as a role model and national expert in the critical care pharmacy field and ensure a consistently high clinical pharmacy service in line with Corporate objectives and the NHS Plan

Qualifications

Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC Diploma Clinical Pharmacy / Pharmacy Practice or equivalent Independent prescribing qualification and actively utilising Evidence demonstrating competencies that meet the RPS Consultant Pharmacist Curriculum (incl. the RPS Advance Pharmacy Framework competencies)
