Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join our Critical Care Pharmacy Team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a highly respected and progressive Clinical Pharmacy Service, supporting the delivery of high-quality, comprehensive Clinical Pharmacy services to patients, senior managers, and clinicians within the Critical Care Division.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, an ability to manage complex relationships, and experience in Critical Care across a breadth of specialties. They will also have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team of pharmacists and Medicines Management staff, supporting the continued provision and development of Clinical Pharmacy services.

Main Duties
  1. Deputise for the Principal Pharmacist, Critical Care
  2. Act as a specialist role model and an expert in the medical management within Critical Care
  3. Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in Critical Care in conjunction with the Principal Pharmacist
  4. Participate regularly in outpatient clinics to deliver and promote high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care
  5. Act as a pharmacist independent prescriber to optimise the care of patients within Critical Care
  6. Ensure a high level of clinical pharmacy input to the care of patients within Critical Care, providing interface and discharge liaison and support
  7. Actively participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, delivering and promoting high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care
  8. Provide patient and carer education and close liaison across the interface
  9. Promote safe drug use within the Critical Care specialties
  10. Development, implementation, and audit of local guidelines
  11. Supervise and train pharmacy staff at ward level
  12. Provide education and training of healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust
  13. Regular financial reporting, drug usage, and expenditure forecasting, and drug budget management
  14. Participate in practice and clinical research and audit
  15. Work with the Principal Pharmacist to extend the boundaries of professional practice within the Care Group
