Lead English Teacher – SEN School (Alternative Provision)
A highly reputable and well-established SEN school group is seeking an experienced and passionate Lead English Teacher to join the permanent staff at their alternative provision in Westbury. This is a unique opportunity to lead and inspire within a supportive and nurturing environment, making a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the English department within the alternative provision, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement engaging, differentiated lesson plans tailored to students with complex needs, including those with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) difficulties.
- Monitor and assess student progress, using data to inform teaching strategies and interventions.
- Support and mentor other staff in delivering English across the curriculum, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach.
- Work closely with the SENCO, leadership team, and other staff to develop the provision’s curriculum and contribute to overall school improvement.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and carers to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related subject.
- Proven experience in teaching English at secondary level, ideally within an SEN or alternative provision setting.
- Strong leadership skills, with experience in leading or supporting a team of teachers.
- A thorough understanding of the national curriculum and experience adapting it to meet the needs of students with SEN and SEMH.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both students and staff.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
