TidalSense is a respiratory technology company with a mission to transform the diagnosis, monitoring and management of chronic respiratory conditions, such as asthma and COPD. The company has ambitions to enable a population-scale change in respiratory care through global deployment of its technologies, including in resource-poor countries. TidalSense is about to launch the first-of-its-kind rapid AI-driven (software medical device) diagnostic test for COPD which uses the company’s unique, patented, sensor technology embedded in the N-Tidal device. 

We are seeking a business development manager to support the commercialisation of TidalSense medical device solutions (both current and future) into the UK provider market. We are at an exciting phase in our journey as we transition from a start-up to a scale-up. You will be joining a passionate, socially-motivated and multi-disciplinary team.

Job Purpose

Developing and executing commercial and business development strategies that drive profitable revenue growth and market expansion within the respiratory healthcare market. This role will focus on the UK provider market, establishing growth across the NHS and provider landscape.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and implement commercial and business development strategies to achieve revenue, profit, and market share targets in the respiratory healthcare market.
  • Identify new business opportunities and establish strategic partnerships with the NHS,  independent healthcare providers, and other associated commercial organisations.
  • Develop commercial proposals and negotiation strategies for customers and partners to secure sustainable, scalable, and profitable contracts and agreements.
  • Coordinate and participate in the mobilisation of new contracts, ensuring customers are appropriately trained and using TidalSense products and services in order to maximise utilisation post deployment.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical, marketing, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment and execution of commercial objectives.
  • To be a proactive member of the commercial team, developing the profile of TidalSense commercial priorities, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and manage commercial Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)within agreed  financial metrics; and use data derived insight to inform commercial decision-making.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices to ensure business operations adhere to legal and ethical standards.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote brand awareness and foster relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Manage the day-to-day functionality of the CRM, enabling the quick and accurate generation of high-quality commercial reports.

Requirements

Skills & Competencies

Essential:

  • An excellent understanding of the UK healthcare market, including pricing strategies and NHS reimbursement routes. Previous experience of selling to and negotiating at an ICB level is essential.
  • Change management – previous experience of defining and developing a market, changing behaviours and long-standing clinical practices.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret complex data and make informed business decisions.
  • Results-oriented mindset, with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and achieve financial targets.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct, with a commitment to compliance and corporate governance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the UK regulatory environment relating to the sale and marketing of regulated medical devices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey ideas and professionally represent TidalSense with a variety of senior stakeholders.
  • The ability to understand and present medical and scientific content.
  • Adaptability – the ability to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.

Desirable:

  • Proven effectiveness working in a remote/hybrid environment.
  • Experience of developing a similar business within non-EU healthcare markets.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in a scientific or medical discipline) with relevant post-graduate experience in a healthcare related field.
  • Proven track record of success in commercial roles within the healthcare industry, with a strong focus on sales, business development, and strategic planning.
  • Solid understanding of the UK and EU healthcare market dynamics, including regulations, reimbursement policies, and customer preferences.
  • Prior experience of value-based business development. Highly numerate and comfortable discussing health economic data with commissioners.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.

Desirable:

  • MBA or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Previous experience of medical devices and/or respiratory healthcare.
  • Previous start up/scale up experience, or a demonstrable understanding of what is needed to succeed in this stage of business.
