Your new role

Your key responsibilities will be:

Lead the structural design of projects in diverse sectors and scale form £5M to £150M. Manage a team of engineers and technicians locally, nationally, and internationally to deliver your projects to programme, to an excellent standard and within budget. Contribute to the team management. As part of the leadership team, you will have responsibilities for nurturing staff development through training and mentoring, manage resource allocation, ensuring quality and driving innovation. Attract clients that share our values, by building and maintaining excellent client relationships, bid development and business development activities.

You will join our Building Structures department

As our new Associate Structural Engineer, you will be part of our Birmingham office which has doubled in number to approximately 130 in three years. Our buildings team includes structural, civil, building services, Facades and Acoustics, working alongside colleagues in Environmental and Health and Infrastructure, collaboratively sharing skills and services that deliver a one-stop engineering design service to our clients.

Our Civil & Structural team is approximately 30 strong and growing. We are delivering exciting landmark local and national projects. We work in all market sectors including Sci-Tech and Hi-tech industrial, commercial, schools and higher education, sports and arenas, residential, commercial and the creative arts. Our delivery is streamlined through effective processes so that you have space to explore. You will have the best tools and encouraged to promote digital innovation, to be multi-disciplined in your approach and be creative. Sustainable design is at the heart of our values. About you

These include:

You will be Chartered Structural Engineer with at least 15years experience. Educated to a degree level or equivalent in structural / civil engineering. Relevant experience in a variety of sectors such as schools, higher education, residential, commercial or industrial development. Demonstrable experience of managing teams of engineers and technicians across multiple consecutive projects. An ability to design conceptually, with an appreciation of multi-discipline coordination and known for delighting architects through capture and development of their ideas. Be an effective communicator, both written, and verbally and through digital media. Be experienced at planning and monitoring the commercial performance of an engineering consultancy as a business including contract management.

Your key deliverables over the first 12-24 months will be:

Energetically play a central and leading role in a Structures team, contributing to team morale and fostering collaboration Manage the delivery of numerous projects, at all stages of design and construction. Be responsible for ensuring accurate designs delivered to an excellent quality.  Create, develop and grow business value from existing client relationships, effectively leveraging capabilities across the Ramboll portfolio to the benefit of the client by demonstrating marketplace knowledge and insight.
