THIS POST IS FIXED TERM 12 MONTHS DUE TO THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.
The Screening Division of Public Health Wales is recruiting to the role of Public Health Researcher. This is an exciting role in which the post-holder will work in partnership with the PRIME Centre Wales and Cardiff University to facilitate and coordinate screening related research projects, as well as scope and contribute to the development of a research-led postgraduate teaching module in screening at Cardiff University.
The Screening Division delivers seven national population-based screening programmes in Wales (bowel cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, abdominal aortic aneurysm, diabetic eye, newborn hearing, and newborn bloodspot) and manages the Antenatal Screening Wales clinical network. It is also currently scoping the delivery of a targeted lung cancer screening programme. As a result, the post holder could work across several different health areas.
Due to available funding the role is fixed term for 12 months at whole time equivalent. The salary scale is 7 on Agenda for Change.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will have a key role in facilitating and coordinating screening related research undertaken in partnership with the PRIME Centre Wales and Cardiff University, focusing on increasing screening uptake and reducing inequalities. In addition, they will also scope and contribute to the development of a research-led postgraduate teaching module in screening and identify opportunities for joint research projects with an education purpose (such as dissertations for the Master in Public Health).
Additional duties will include supervising the work of others ( Public Health Registrars and post-graduate students); providing advice on research methods selection, use and analysis; and facilitating the dissemination of research findings to a range of audiences.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
