Registered Clinical Scientist – Scottish HPV Reference Laboratory

Grade: Band 7 (AFC)

Contract: Permanent

Applications are invited from enthusiastic, self-motivated, adaptable, and suitably qualified, Clinical Scientists. You must possess a good honours degree in Microbiology or related subject and be state registered or be working towards state registration with the Health & Care Professions Council with a clear timescale of acquisition. You will have good communication, organisational and analytical skills, including molecular techniques and experience of working in a routine clinical microbiology setting. You will have a professional attitude, be able to work as part of a team and have a track record in instigating and supporting basic and applied research, ideally in the area of Human Papillomavirus and Sexually Transmitted infections.

The appointee will be based at Scottish HPV Reference Laboratory (SHPVRL) but will have the opportunity of working closely with other reference laboratories including the Scottish Bacterial Sexually Transmitted Infections reference laboratory, both of which based in the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Little France. The appointee will be involved with delivery of laboratory services and associated research and also work closely with the HPV Research Group at the University of Edinburgh who are also based at the Little France site.

The department offers opportunities to engage in CPD and further study.
