Are you a decisive and professional HR leader looking to make a significant impact? We are seeking an individual to support and drive the implementation of our HR strategy across the North West & Wales, aligned with the Arriva UK Bus strategy. In this pivotal role, you will assist the HR Director for Regions in shaping and delivering an effective HR service to our operational business. You will deputise for the HR Director and serve as a key point of escalation for the wider Regional HR team. You will develop and implement change management strategies, build a successful management team through talent management and people development, and support employee engagement initiatives, always acting with integrity and professionalism to achieve operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

· Support the HR Director in the provision of an effective HR service to the business aligned to the UKB strategy and people plan

· Work as part of the HRBP team to develop service standard levels

· Influence and contribute to the strategic business planning process through effective HR solutions to support the delivery of key strategic priorities

· Create a culture of partnership with Trade Unions to ensure that the business strategy is promoted

· Advise, coach and support senior management teams, HRBPs and ER partners to ensure best practice is consistently applied to minimise risk and litigation

· Lead HR work stream to effectively plan and implement business change projects and initiatives aligned to the business strategy.

· Participate in Trade Union negotiations and consultations, aligned to MTP and other initiatives including attendance at various committees, to ensure consistency including participation in

· Actively promote the use of HR Hub to encourage self service for general advice and queries

· Deliver employee lifecycle processes, including talent management, strategic workforce planning, engagement and wellbeing, in conjunction with subject matter experts if applicable

· In conjunction with senior management, HRD and talent team ensure the delivery of learning initiatives to build organisational capability, ensure legal compliance and mitigate risk

· Identify and deliver people initiatives to promote and contribute to the success of Arriva UK Bus.


About You

· Strong generalist HR experience in a commercial and highly unionised environment

· Thorough knowledge of HR management, processes and systems at a tactical and strategic level

· Ability to translate HR practice to business requirements in a complex environment

· Detailed understanding of the principles of business change management and a record of change delivery

· Experience of managing employee and industrial relations in a highly unionised environment

· Ideally CIPD L7 qualified but committed to continuous professional development

· Committed to providing an excellent customer service with strong influencing, communication and negotiating skills

· Demonstrate sound business/commercial approach with an understanding of business needs

· Willingness to share knowledge and best practice across the HR team

· Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks whilst ensuring deadlines are met

· Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft office packages
