OVERVIEW & SCOPE OF ROLE


The Materials Planning Manager is responsible for the management and maintenance of the planning processes to support effective parts, materials and production planning. To ensure the material planning strategy and processes work effectively to ensure material supply meets production and service requirements with minimum inventory and cost. To manage, coach and develop a high performing team of material and production planners with the aim to reduce Inventory, improve inventory turns, increase supplier performance (both internally and externally) and improve the availability and accuracy of all operational inventory. Additionally, ensure material availability and flow throughout all production areas is optimised to meet the business manufacturing needs. This role requires close working with all key stakeholder teams to deliver a robust material/production planning process.


The successful candidate must have proven abilities in all aspects of manufacturing planning and be able to coach and develop peers across the operation that directly influence the success of this role/duties.


In order to carry out the duties of this role the manager would be required to mainly work on site and not from home (ad hoc WFH policy).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES


  • Develop the overall planning strategy and processes to support the effective planning of parts, materials and production to ensure the business can deliver On Time and In Full (OTIF)
  • Manage demand planning through the Master Production Schedule process
  • Manage supplier scheduling and the expediting of parts ensuring their availability to support the production plans including the availability of products controlled within shelf life.
  • Liaise with procurement and quality regarding supplier issues and develop effective recovery plans where required
  • Analyse and evaluate planning and inventory concerns, developing and managing solutions.
  • Develop and implement improved inventory management and reporting processes and take control of stocktakes
  • Continually seek improvements relative to inventory and supply, and make recommendations designed to reduce costs and improve methods. This will include planning, labelling, packaging, booking, storage, line-feeding etc.
  • Provide accurate and timely management reporting of KPIs
  • Active support of part and model changes participating in part and product implementation programmes with a target of zero obsolescence
  • Auditing and cleansing data within core systems
  • Manage team development, recruitment and Personal Development Reviews
  • Take responsibility for Health and Safety.
  • Update and maintain procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with certifications (including EN9100 etc) and HSE.
  • Ensure the accuracy of system data and take an active role in auditing our processes.
  • Assume additional responsibilities and projects as required by the business.


QUALIFICATIONS:


A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at level 4 or above (must include Maths & English)

Have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project).

A very strong proven experience of using and developing planning solutions including the use of a Manufacturing Planning Control system.
