Role Overview

The Supply Chain Planning Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing and refining the planning processes essential for effective management of parts, materials, and production schedules. This position is pivotal in ensuring that the material planning strategy aligns with production and service requirements while minimizing inventory levels and associated costs. The Lead will be responsible for mentoring and developing a high-performing team of planners, focusing on reducing inventory levels, enhancing inventory turnover, improving supplier performance, and ensuring the accuracy and availability of operational inventory. Close collaboration with key stakeholders is essential to deliver a comprehensive material and production planning process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement a comprehensive planning strategy to facilitate effective parts, materials, and production planning, ensuring timely and complete delivery.
  • Oversee demand planning through the Master Production Schedule process.
  • Manage supplier scheduling and expedite parts to ensure their availability aligns with production plans, particularly for products with shelf life considerations.
  • Collaborate with procurement and quality teams to address supplier-related issues and devise effective recovery strategies.
  • Analyze planning and inventory challenges, developing and managing effective solutions.
  • Enhance inventory management and reporting processes, including oversight of stocktaking activities.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in inventory and supply processes, recommending strategies to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Provide timely and accurate management reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support part and model changes, actively participating in implementation programs with a focus on minimizing obsolescence.
  • Conduct audits and data cleansing within core systems.
  • Manage team development, recruitment, and performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain and update procedures and documentation to ensure adherence to relevant certifications and health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Ensure data accuracy within systems and play an active role in auditing processes.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and projects as required by the organization.

Qualifications

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at level 4 or above, including Mathematics and English.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project) is essential.

Extensive experience in utilizing and developing planning solutions, particularly within a Manufacturing Planning Control system.
