AET are a specialist provider of under floor air conditioning systems. They manufacture under the AET Flexible Space brand, making use of production facilities in Asia and Europe. Their product range includes air handling units, fan assisted terminal units, and electronic control units.


Position Summary


The Head of HR will be responsible for leading on all elements of HR Management, ensuring effective and efficient HR operations that align with the company's strategic objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, comprehensive HR knowledge, and the ability to manage diverse HR functions, from recruitment and training to compliance and employee well-being.


Key Responsibilities:


Performance Management:


  • Create and manage new review periods in the HRIS (People HR).
  • Develop review questions, set completion dates, and review completed evaluations with department managers.
  • Provide support and advice to ensure fair and consistent performance reviews.
  • Facilitate mid-year reviews, collaborate with managers on feedback, and set objectives and targets.


Training & Development:


  • Develop and manage the training plan budget, seeking approval from the Managing Director & Head of Finance.
  • Book and record training and qualifications in the HRIS, handling clawback agreements for non-mandatory training.


Policy & Compliance:


  • Update and review the employee handbook following annual Employment Law updates.
  • Communicate relevant changes to the business and ensure managerial awareness.
  • Lead performance and capability management in collaboration with managers, ensuring adherence to company policies.


Recruitment & On boarding:


  • Create job descriptions with managers, advertise roles, and liaise with recruitment agents.
  • Manage the shortlisting process and coordinate interviews.
  • Oversee staff on boarding and induction plans, as well as staff exit procedures.


Employee Relations:


  • Handle employee benefits assignments based on length of service, recording and managing renewals in HRIS.
  • Conduct bench marking, role reviews, and process contract amendments/salary adjustments.
  • Provide mediation for team members, understand issues, and develop resolution plans.
  • Organise staff length of service events and recognition awards.


Welfare & Support:


  • Provide welfare support, referring team members to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) or Occupational Health advisors as needed.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with team members.


Compliance & Risk Management:


  • Manage SSIP accreditation renewals, including SafeContractor, Avetta, and Constructionline portals.
  • Complete annual Office, Fire, and General Risk Assessments, addressing captured actions.
  • Handle escalations with solicitor support, manage communications, and work towards resolutions.
  • Manage certification and renewals compliance.
  • Manage structural plans and coordinate changes with solicitors and senior team members, documenting minutes and actions.


Data Management:


  • Compile and manage payroll reports, demonstrating expected deductions and amendments.
  • Act as the internal IT point of contact, escalating issues to the outsourced team as needed.
  • Manage SharePoint permissions and structure, ensuring proper data management.
  • Make IT-related decisions and communicate changes to the team.


General Compliance:


  • Ensure general compliance measures are in place and act as the escalation point for compliance issues.
  • Coordinate annual compliance documentation, understanding and communicating levels of cover.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • CIPD (Level 7 qualification or working toward - option for AET to fund).
  • Demonstrable experience in a senior HR / People Management role.
  • Experience in a senior leadership role with a focus on developing teams.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong empathy and understanding of sustainable and effective employee well-being initiatives.
