A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Luxury 5* Corporate Hotel brand, Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel in Canary Wharf, East London.


We are currently recruiting a dedicated and ProactiveFull TimeLuggage Porterto be a part of the Hotel Centerpiece, the main Ambassador Front of House Concierge Department.


Set within the historic wharfs and quays of East London, Canary Riverside Plaza is the only five-star independent hotel in Canary Wharf. The 142 spacious guest rooms and suites make for an incredibly comfortable stay, be it for business or leisure, offering stunning views of the River Thames and city beyond. Enjoy the full five-star experience with access to the adjacent Health Club and Spa or indulge with afternoon tea on the sun-filled terrace at the Quadrato Restaurant and Lounge.


Quadrato Restaurant and Lounge offers Italian inspired menus with flavours that are light, fresh and quintessentially Italian. The incredible view of the River Thames and London skyline are best enjoyed from the elegant terrace or on colder days, the soaring windows of the restaurant. The adjacent Quadrato Bar & Lounge offers an array of signature cocktails, wine, beer and spirits and is the perfect place for pre-dinner drinks or a night cap.


Adjacent to the hotel, all guests enjoy complimentary access to a five-star Health Club. Set on the River Thames, the club offers three floors of expansive fitness facilities, including a sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pools and a 20 metre infinity edge lap pool.

Key qualities we are looking from the Luggage Porter:


As a Full Time Luggage Porteryou will engage with our guests whilst welcomingthemat the door; providing anticipative, yet unobtrusive service. A warmwelcome, assistance with luggage, coordinating private cars and arranging taxis, as well as valet parking, are a few of the many important tasks ahead.


The ideal candidate will have the following Skills and Knowledge:


A passion for customer service with your own unique flare with strong problem resolution skills.

Must have a full valid Driving License.

Confidence in handling customer complaints to ensure satisfaction levels are restored in the event something doesnt go to plan, displaying empathy and a professional approach at all times.

Strong communication skills through a variety of means.

Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to stay calm under pressure, adapting your approach to complete routine and non-routine tasks. Proactive and organised.

High standards of cleanliness.

Good numeracy and literacy skills.

The ability to work on your own and as part of a team.


The main responsibilities for this role would include:


Welcoming guests, valet parking cars, delivering luggage to rooms.

Replenishing guest bedrooms with arrival amenities.

Parking Guests Cars at their request upon their arrival at the Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel Forecourt.

Assisting in keeping the reception lounge and other public areas clean and tidy

Ensuring that luggage and guest belongings are properly tagged and are delivered to the correct rooms.

Assisting the room service staff on busy days

Running errands, doing small jobs to fulfil guest requests

Ensuring the safety of guests by , for instance, placing and removing signage that indicates wet floors or paint.

Storing all equipment accurately, tidy, and safely.

Ensuring the safe removal, segregation, and storage of all recycling materials.

Setting, lighting and monitoring of fire places within the public areas

Arrange equipment and ingredient deliveries.

Setting up and clearing down of external area furniture and other outdoor tasks.

Contribute to stock taking as required.

Provide porter support in all areas including deliveries.


Being part of the small team, you will demonstrate excellent knowledge and dedicated behaviour. The successful candidate will be highly professional, have excellent communication skills, be well presented and understand the importance of exceptional Guest Service.
