Narrative Entertainment is the largest independent TV broadcaster in the UK with a portfolio spanning Movies, Entertainment and Children’s TV. The portfolio includes linear broadcast channels (GREAT and Pop Networks), AVOD apps and a range of FAST (Free Ad Supported TV) on major platforms.



WHAT THE ROLE IS ALL ABOUT

The Head of Strategy & Insights is responsible for analysing business performance in the context of the market and driving the strategic direction of Narrative Entertainment. The successful candidate will be a thought leader on our audiences and growth opportunities across linear broadcast and digital channels.

It is a key role in supporting and influencing internal teams by providing actionable insights and encouraging a data-led approach.



WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Performance Reporting & Data Storytelling – Responsible for regular and ad-hoc reporting across the business, including the MD, board and external agencies. Able to pull relevant data and turn it into easy-to-understand insights, tailored to its audience (including commercial, content, product and marketing performance).
  • Stakeholder Management – Ensure alignment on performance to company objectives, be a thought leader on insights and feel comfortable in making suggestions to senior management team based on findings and industry developments.
  • Commercial Planning – Work closely with Commercial Director and Finance to plan, forecast and deliver short-term and long-term revenue and profit targets across linear and digital portfolio. Identify new business opportunities - within existing portfolios and new - to maximise revenues.
  • Content Strategy – Develop a deep understanding of our audiences and consumption habits to support Programming in determining and qualifying commercially viable content and programming. Understand the value of our audiences and provide segmentation insight to help maximise viewership and impacts.
  • Marketing Strategy - Work with Marketing and Partnerships to identify optimal advertising and marketing and sales strategies. Have a strong understanding of revenue drivers and champion our successes in internal, B2C and B2B comms.
  • Market Intel - Stay at the forefront of the UK and global media landscape including industry trends, competitor developments and emerging technologies. Understand how these impact the business, potential growth opportunities and changes in measurement methodologies.
  • Team Management – Lead and empower insights team to work cross-functionally and translate data to stories. Develop team to gain a better understanding of changing consumption habits, competitive landscape and business objectives.
  • Data efficiencies - Review and establish KPIs and reporting methodologies, including the consolidation of linear and digital reporting. Refine workflows to ensure quick delivery of insights, enabling fast decision making across the company. Stay abreast of changing market dynamics and make continuous improvements in data knowledge and reporting.


WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • 8+ years’ experience in strategy and insights within broadcast and/or digital media.
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the advertising market (agency/brand appeal, impacts, CPTs, CTV) and our position/strengths in the market.
  • A clear understanding of the competitive landscape and an interest in TV/film and Kids’ content.
  • Highly numeric and strong attention to detail; able to dissect audience data, providing actionable insights and devise business plans.
  • Confident in building and managing critical stakeholder relationships, able to influence stakeholders and challenge thinking.
  • Proven ability to take ownership and manage multiple projects, prioritise and deliver results.
  • Familiarity with external data sources and an understanding of how to bring linear and digital performance together.
  • Enjoy working proactively to identify opportunities. Open to new ideas and willingness to adapt to a rapidly changing industry and business.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to translate and tailor data to audience and influence change.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and ability to create concise reports and dashboards. Knowledge of TechEdge is a plus.
