As an Oracle technology software presales/sales engineer you will be responsible for formulating and leading presales technical support activity to prospective customers while ensuring customer satisfaction. Focuses on sales opportunities by leading technical discovery, proposing creative and complex solutions to meet clients business requirements. Leads all aspects of the technical presales process, with the support of Oracle product specialist teams. Advises both Oracle sales external clients on overall architect solutions.


Work is non-routine and complex, involving the application of technical and business skills. 5 years business experience with hands on experience with Oracle database. Ability to implement some of the core product features. Knowledge of system and application design. Knowledge of competitors. Demonstrated project management skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis (discovery), positioning and business justification. Ability to persuade others through presentations, demonstrations, and written communication. Ability to travel as needed. A BS degree or equivalent.

We believe that this software presales engineer role requires a combination of both technical and soft skills. We expect every engineer to have good technical skills pertaining to Oracle database, and we believe that the ability to engage with people, communicate an idea and convince stakeholders is just as important as getting the technical solution right.


You will support the Oracle Account Manager for a set of industry aligned customers, covering both pre-sale and post-sale activities. You will need to build relationships, drive advocacy, educate and discover via workshops. The ultimate priority is to discover and shape engagements that can leverage Oracle software technology. The focus is on the right solution for the customer and to deliver business value.


Working with specialists across the Technology Software Engineering Group, you will need to develop the initial bill of materials and solution architecture that deliver against the customer’s business goals and to ensure that functional and non-functional requirements, such as security, network and performance are fully understood and mapped to Oracle Technology solutions.

Job summary:


  • Customer aligned, this role is responsible for the full adoption lifecycle from project concept to usage and expansion within the customer.
  • Drives alignment with the Account Sales Rep, working as a team within the customer to define/drive sales strategy
  • Supporting sales territory planning
  • Own relationships with client technical stakeholders
  • Technical discovery and qualification to validate client requirements
  • Design and architect technical solutions
  • Build and maintain technical engagement plan with the customer


Role and responsibilities:


  • Technical software presales engineer will orchestrate all technical activity in the account.
  • Actively involved in the Oracle account team in defining and driving the growth strategy.
  • Is accountable for the successful experience of customer(s) in their territory.
  • Understands customers overall portfolio, IT and business priorities and establishes a solution that addresses customer needs.
  • Informs customers/prospects on Oracle emerging technologies and how they will create value and competitive differentiation
  • Presents Oracle's technology demonstrating familiarity with core functional capabilities across Oracle database
  • Acts as customer SPOC for Technology software engineering related aspects
  • Brings together and leads Domain Specialist Engineers, Solution Architects and other Oracle teams to support solution building, preparation, presentation and ultimately, delivery of the Oracle solution.


Skills and profile:


  • Broad technical experience of Oracle database and software solutions along with experience in implementing Oracle technology adoption. A good understanding of software architecture.
  • Ability to articulate some of the Oracle technology software offerings in the market and to discuss architectures
  • Familiar with Oracle database and ideally some wider knowledge and interest in the wider Oracle technology software portfolio.Some experience in designing architectural solutions.
  • Translates customer needs into solutions enabling the customer to achieve their goals
  • Eagerness to learn about the wider portfolio of Oracle products and to demonstrate knowledge through implementation in client engagements
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to speak comfortably across all levels of management (e.g. IT management, Architects, administrators and executives).
  • Commercial business understanding
  • Intelligence to identify key trends and business drivers and leverage them in driving execution within customer
  • Experience in engaging and influencing
  • Ability to build relationships to grow business.
  • Act as a partner to our customers, not just a vendor.
  • Strong collaboration skills and drive for impact and influence
  • Experience of owning customer loyalty, culture and change management
