Job Overview

We are recruiting for an experienced Merchandiser to join our team.


You will be responsible for maximizing sales and profit on the department and responsible for stock accuracy, ensuring the greatest availability to drive full price sales whilst minimizing markdown


You will work alongside the Buying team and manage the Allocator on the department, developing and motivating them as well as setting excellent levels of accuracy and decision making. You may also deputize in the absence of the Head of Merchandising.


Responsibilities and Duties

· The role contributes to all aspects of the product life cycle, from initial budget planning, SKU and category planning, rolling up spend, through to getting stock delivered into our warehouse to clearing stock out of the business, in accordance with KPI’s set for the department

· Set up and update weekly WSSI’s, reforecasting on a timely bases and proposing appropriate actions to achieve targets

· Produce weekly, monthly, seasonal and ad hoc trading reports

· Propose & monitor promotional activity & markdowns

· Propose weekly trading actions to maximise full price sales, margin and stock availability for the season

· Manage line cards ensuring good availability on all continuity lines

· Manage deliveries into the business

· Liaising with suppliers on any under & over shipments

· Having input into department strategy, providing financial parameters to Buyers

· Planning seasonal sales and stock requirements in terms of budgets by department and categories with OTB allowances

· Identifying slow moving stock and developing a cost-effective solution to ensure the EOS stock targets are met

· Produce EOS analysis to be used as a “lessons learnt” for future seasons

· Act as a role model to junior members of the team assisting in training

· Manage Allocator on the department, monitoring performance and identifying training and development needs

· Challenge current ways of working, with proposals for alternatives that will enhance and benefit the department

· Deputise for Head of Merch


Skills & Experience

· Must have at least 2 years’ experience at Merchandiser level

· Strong numerical & analytical skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment

· Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

· Strong planning and organizing skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail

· Be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

· Proven experience in managing a team

· Has the presence and persona to represent the merchandising team

· Is confident, and has charisma to inspire and train staff effectively

· Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands

· A sense of urgency to get things done quickly. Adhere to deadlines and sees work through thoroughly and accurately first time.

· A whizz at Excel, and enjoy data generation and handling
