My client is an established Challenger Bank who are one of the top Real Estate Finance lenders in the UK. They provide funding to support all stages in the lifecycle of a development scheme: Acquisition Finance; Development Finance; and Sales Period Finance, all to support the building activities of housebuilders and developers operating across England and Wales.


Overview

The role is to provide support and work closely with a Senior Director to help generate and protect profits by developing and transacting new property development finance business, ensuring that the efficient structuring, management and control of the loan portfolio and associated activities mitigate risks. The successful candidate will need to be relationship driven, both internally as well as externally, they must have strong credit skills and proven track record in development finance as well broader real estate experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Understand the banks credit policy, lending appetite procedures in order to support the Senior Director in the growth and management of their portfolio.
  • Assist with the management of a portfolio of property developer customers, demonstrate the highest level of credit stewardship and in-life loan management and actively support the monitoring of credit portfolio, and take action as necessary to minimise risk and ensure a high level of account management.
  • Independently analyse opportunities, critically evaluate, prepare and submit applications for new proposals to Credit Committee, ensuring appropriate commentary and analysis to aid decision.
  • Ensure that KYC procedures including the requirements for in-life reviews in accordance with the AML framework on all customer connections are adhered too.
  • Support the director with achievement of growth, income targets and adherence to the Bank’s standards in respect of operational and regulatory risk both pre-credit approval and in-life.
  • Maintain delivery of a high quality service to customers as required.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key business partners / introducers to maximise potential growth of business.
  • Build knowledge and understanding of relevant markets and customers in order to anticipate and meet their needs.
  • Monitor market developments and competitor activity. Recommend and implement appropriate action to ensure the Bank competes effectively working closely with the Business Development and Marketing Director within Property Development.
  • Support the provision and reporting of appropriate Management Information and ensure required actions are undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Provide input to Bank policy including lending guidelines, product development and overall risk management.


Key Measurements:

  • Create capacity for the Director to be able to generate >£50m new business annually.
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of c30 – 40 projects / customers.
  • All credit papers are produced with high level of accuracy and in a timely fashion.
  • All “in construction” sites are visited by the Development Finance Director or this role on at least a quarterly basis.

  • Full driving licence.


Salary: up to £75k (depending on experience)
