Overall Purpose of the role

The Account Manager will be expected to take responsibility on a day-to-day basis for PR and Communications support to the Senior PR Director. This will include the following responsibilities.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement public relations strategies, oversee social media campaigns, and importantly, cultivate relationships with media contacts
  • Track and analyse the success of PR and social media activity and news by providing media coverage reports. Currently the agency uses Meltwater as the media reporting tool
  • Understand the client’s work and business in-depth
  • Add value to the communications outcomes by supporting and guiding the client through the briefing phase
  • Develop media questions and responses for media interviews
  • Write media releases, media pitches and other supporting media materials
  • Build a strong relationship with the client, where the client sees you as a trusted advisor and values your opinion and help
  • Enable the studio and designer’s work through strong understanding and communication of the client’s needs and opportunities
  • Develop and manage briefs for the studio through to the final stage.
  • Manage the client effectively so there are not a significant number of changes to projects once past the initial briefing stage
  • Assist the Digital Team as and when necessary


Project management

  • Ability to multitask and be the lead project manager on many pieces of client work at any time
  • Ensure studio sign-off is adhered to and that timescales are met
  • Proactive thinking on ways to enrich the client relationship further


Internal Relationships

  • Ensuring your Senior Account Director is aware at all times of issues and particular successes
  • Work closely with your team members working on the same client base to ensure parity of activity and information sharing
  • Work closely with members of the studio to ensure they are well-briefed and can deliver what is required by the client. Ensure they have all the information they need
  • Work internally in a pleasant and calm manner holding others to account for your client whilst not making unreasonable demands – work as a team player across the whole business


Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience of managing a client account with a range of different stakeholders
  • Experience in PR / Communications
  • Experience of working on financial or corporate accounts
  • Experience working in a Social Media role, including developing social media strategies and posting across all key channels
  • Ability to write good, concise communications copy - such as social media posts, press releases and campaign copy. Strong proofreading and editing skills, ensuring all communications materials are on brand and on message
  • Ability to write a good, detailed brief for the design team and project manage this brief through to completion
  • Demonstrably able to manage clients at a tactical day-to-day level
  • Strong diplomacy skills with a clear sense of confidentiality and sensitivity boundaries
  • Strong communicator
  • Capacity to multitask, moving from project to project with ease. Adaptability to changing client requirements.
  • Able to use systems and processes to good effect. Evidence of the capacity to comply with system requirements
  • A passion for digital and social media and not afraid to try new things
  • Currently working in a role where you are hands-on in delivering social media campaigns across both organic and paid social media
  • A passion for content.


Desirable

  • Experience of working on a global account in Africa or some African countries (preferable)
  • Fluent in French.


This a great opportunity for an experienced PR, Communications Account Executive/ Junior Account Manager who can be adaptable to changing client and agency needs and willing to support the Senior PR Director on a variety of tasks and projects.
