About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Learning Manager for one of our respected clients. As a Learning Manager, you will lead the Learning Team to create excellent experiences for school visitors and provide engaging activities for all visitors. You will also expand our learning programmes and build strong relationships with schools to increase visits and collaborative opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management:
- Recruit and manage Learning Officers and Hosts.
- Ensure efficient use of staff and deliver high-quality visitor experiences.
- Maintain appropriate staff levels and manage schedules.
- Provide training for all team members.
- Uphold safeguarding standards.
- Manage volunteers and work experience students.
- Conduct performance reviews and maintain team morale.
- Promote team development opportunities.
Learning Programme:
- Deliver and coordinate learning sessions and events.
- Expand the learning programme and increase school visits.
- Improve practices to enhance visitor experiences.
- Ensure resources and equipment are maintained.
- Monitor health and safety standards.
- Manage learning enquiries via email and phone.
- Work with the VX Manager, Box Office, and Finance Team on bookings.
- Collaborate with Marketing to track and manage school relationships.
- Develop marketing materials and strategies with the Marketing Manager.
- Work with the Fundraising Manager on funding bids and grants.
- Evaluate learning activities and implement feedback.
- Engage new audiences, including young people and those with disabilities.
Family Learning:
- Develop and deliver high-quality family learning activities as part of the museum’s programme.
- Ensure these activities are well-staffed and resourced.
Other Responsibilities:
- Be flexible with working hours, including some weekends and evenings.
- Act as Site Manager when needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record in managing and delivering learning programmes.
- Line management experience in a learning or museum setting.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in working with and managing volunteers.
- Project management experience.
- Strong team working, communication, and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of volunteering and community engagement.
- Good customer service skills.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Understanding of community participation innovations.
- Excellent IT, social media, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Problem-solving and creativity.
- Knowledge of relevant legislative requirements.
