Baltic Exchange is the world's leading source of independent maritime market data and we have an exciting opportunity for highly motivated professional to join our Membership team.


We sit at the heart of maritime industry, bringing together the shipowners, charterers, and brokers who make up the market of the seaborn movement of bulk commodities. Representing a global community of shipping interests, the Baltic Exchange provides a framework for its members to commit to a high standard of business practice. Our indices and assessments are used as a settlement tool for freight derivative trades, for benchmarking physical contracts and as a general indicator of freight market performance extending coverage to the wider logistics chain including containers and air freight.


Headquartered in London, we have regional offices in Singapore, Shanghai, Athens, Stamford, and Houston. Since 2016, the Baltic Exchange is part of the Singapore Exchange (SGX) Group.


The role will focus on assisting with the on-boarding of new members and data subscribers and with their on-going relationship with the Baltic Exchange.


Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the successful candidate's responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure smooth running of membership department
  • Advise prospective new members on completion of membership application forms
  • Monitor all membership applications to ensure that requirements for membership have been met
  • Prepare applications for the Membership Committee and ensure these comply with membership requirements
  • Maintain data on applicants for membership and all changes to member details
  • Notification to members when elected
  • Collate and send new member's documentation
  • Authorise/deny access to specific areas of the system – ensuring that members/panellists all have appropriate access
  • Assist in raising annual and intermediate subscription notices/invoices, ensuring that those eligible for special rates are correctly processed
  • Provide general advice on membership procedures and rules

  • 1+ years of team administrator experience
  • Intermediate IT skills including Jira and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate multi-tasking and project management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Maintain a sense of urgency and can prioritize appropriately
  • Works independently, but properly escalates when necessary
  • Professional and positive attitude
  • Must be team-orientated, trustworthy and display strong follow-through
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skill
  • Knowledge and experience of using CRM systems preferred
