Position Summary

To develop and lead a professional mobilisation function which delivers high performing, profitable service contracts which meet First Bus's internal sign-off metrics, and client expectations.


The Director of Mobilisations is a member of the of the First Bus Leadership Team, and, in conjunction with its peers, will contribute to the delivery of all the First Bus commercial and non-commercial commitments as well as identifying opportunities and business innovation to support business growth targets.


Acting with integrity, they will role model First Bus values and behaviors (‘Our Way') in all interactions, and through effective leadership and stakeholder management, they will ensure the needs of local authorities, investors, customers, partners, and colleagues are met.


Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Recruit, inspire, manage and retain a team of experienced, proactive mobilisation professionals capable of fulfilling our strategy of growing First Bus

• Develop First Bus's mobilisation processes and capabilities to ensure sustainable high performing mobilisation project performance, through continuous development and improvement

• Deliver mobilisation projects which are compliant, deliver the as-bid solution and the as-signed off levels of performance, revenue and profit, and which meet (and where appropriate exceed) client expectations: our aim is to be recognised in the industry for the most professional, client-focussed mobilisations

• Manage mobilisation resource allocation over a 12-month view of Must-Win opportunities for pursuit, ensuring the best resources are allocated to our most valuable/challenging opportunities to achieve revenue and EBIT targets whilst also developing the team and utilising flexibility to manage costs

• Represent the mobilisation function and specific mobilisation projects in meetings within the growth function, and with MDs, Bus Exec and Group, presenting detail with passion to build confidence and gain buy in

• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers in client organisations, building their confidence in our ability to deliver to specification and on-time, and building open, trusting relationships which allow us to quickly achieve cooperative positions when circumstances dictate

• Support, coach and lead commercial colleagues in LBUs and SBUs

• Provide colleagues in mobilisation with a clear success strategy for each mobilisation project, including clarity of key solution elements/commitments, expected contract performance, key risks and challenges, client concern/trigger points, performance and progress expectations, including milestones and sign-off metrics • Work with colleagues in LBUs, SBUs and central functions including solutions leads and bid colleagues to identify opportunities for mobilisation performance improvement

• Represent First Bus at industry events where there is a clear commercial benefit from doing so

• Together with other members of the senior leadership team, lead the strategic direction of First Bus

• Provide strong, visible and inspirational leadership, building rapport and engagement across the organisation to enable the delivery of the Growth strategy
