This role is critical in managing the legal and compliance aspects of large-scale technology contracts that drive the shift towards net-zero public transport.

You will ensure contracts meet legal standards, manage changes to legal components, and play a pivotal role in ensuring these transformative projects are executed smoothly. You will also oversee the legal and contractual elements of future contracts, tenders, and bids.

Breakdown of What You’ll Be Doing

  • Public Sector Expertise: Provide legal support for public sector contracts, including tenders, bids, and procurement processes.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure adherence to regulatory and contractual obligations, identifying and mitigating risks proactively.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with commercial, sales, and project teams to align legal requirements with project objectives.
  • Policy Development: Shape and enforce compliance policies to support contract governance and operational efficiency.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Keep abreast of public sector regulatory changes, advising on their impact and adapting processes as needed.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain detailed records of contracts, amendments, and compliance activities to support internal and external audits.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular updates and reports on compliance performance, providing insights to the senior leadership team.

Experience We’re Looking For

  • Legal Expertise: Strong background in managing legal and compliance aspects of large-scale contracts, ideally in the public sector, although this is not essential.
  • Educational Qualifications: Degree in Law, Business, or a related discipline; legal practice experience is highly advantageous.
  • Public Sector Knowledge (Desired): Familiarity with public procurement processes, tendering, and contract management standards in the UK.
  • Contract Management Skills: Proven ability to manage complex contracts, track changes, and ensure alignment with legal and commercial objectives.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of compliance requirements for public transport and sustainability projects.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills to identify risks, track changes, and ensure all documentation is accurate.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Proactive Problem-Solver: A proactive approach to addressing compliance challenges, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Organisational Ability: Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
