THE BUSINESS

Our client is specialised in the design and manufacture of industrial multi-material packaging solutions to meet all the packaging requirements of its many clients. Timber and corrugated form the core products of their portfolio now.







THE ROLE

  • Conduct, document and review periodically risk assessments and accompanying Safe Operating Procedures considering and identify reasonable solutions on how risks can be eradicated, reduced or controlled.
  • Conduct regular safety, health and environmental related reports during allocated site visits.
  • Following audits and inspections, the SHEQ Lead will be required to create action plans and to report improvements that are reasonable and practical to the site General Manager.
  • On creation of the action plan, the SHEQ Lead will work closely with the individual sites management to assist and advise on completion of actions planned.
  • Keep up to date with current and new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all required legislation.
  • Conduct SHEQ related inspections, as allocated, in line with current international standards and UK legislation.
  • Develop QSHE related policies in cooperation/collaboration with The Head of HSER UK.
  • Liaison and assistance with regulatory authorities, such the Health and Safety Executive to ensure compliance with mandatory regulations and assist in any investigations as required.
  • Advise and assist sites and site management teams on safety related issues.
  • Investigate all accidents and incidents on your allocated sites and produce subsequent reports and recommendations.
  • Inspect paperwork resulting from accidents and incidents investigated by the management team, or other individuals on site, to ensure the investigation and the paperwork has been completed to expectations assisting where necessary to improve such investigation paperwork.
  • Undertake site inspections ensuring that agreed policies and processes are being correctly adhered to. Any noncompliance or adherence to these policies and processes are to be reported to site management.
  • Attend and chair Health, Safety, Environment and quality meetings for the respective sites producing and distributing notes of such meetings.
  • Produce and document required Toolbox talks and distribute accordingly to those areas relevant to the Toolbox talk context.
  • Conduct non-technical training of safe operating procedures to members of the management team.
  • Periodically attend shift briefings conducted by site managers and supervisors (or equivalent positions).
  • Periodically attend late and night shifts that require attendance ‘out of hours’ at a frequency determined by The Head of HSER UK.
  • In-house checks are required to be conducted on site. You are to ensure these in-house checks are being conducted to the expected frequencies.
  • Undertake regular site tours internally and externally. The expectation being at least 2 site tours in a day during your site attendance.
  • Conduct audit and inspections in company offices as well as workshops.
  • Give support to collation of information as required to support external auditing bodies with a view to attaining and retaining accreditation issued by the external bodies.
  • Collaborate with other team members on other sites and/or contracts with a view to working towards a uniformed approach throughout the UK sites.
  • The above list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and you may be required to undertake additional tasks as directed by The Head of HSER UK. These additional tasks may also include quality requirements relating to other ISO standards.






THE PERSON


  • IOSH Managing Safely as a minimum
  • NEBOSH hugely preferential
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment, particularly in areas of health and safety and environmental, is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and related programs, such as, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • Ability to work with auditing tools that are web and mobile app based.
  • Effective communication skills.
