Strativ is working with a growing space business that is looking to add a Quality Manager to its facility in Scotland.


The business is looking to scale the production output in their facility by 3x over the next 2 years and is looking for an experienced quality professional to join their team and drive this ramp-up within the quality department.



Responsibilities


  • Developing and Implementing Quality Management Systems: You will be responsible for creating and deploying quality management systems that ensure mission assurance and safety standards are met. This includes developing policies, internal quality standards, procedures, and work instructions to define and manage quality processes across the organization.


  • Ensuring Adherence to Quality Standards: This role involves conducting audits and inspections to identify non-conformances and driving the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.


  • Managing Supplier Quality: You will oversee supplier quality processes, ensuring that all materials and components used in manufacturing meet the specified standards and requirements.


  • Facilitating Continuous Improvement: You will lead initiatives to enhance processes by identifying opportunities for improvement, analyzing data, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing process enhancements.


  • Ensuring Product Safety: You will work with design and manufacturing teams to identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks. This includes verifying that products align with the company’s safety case and ensuring components meet all requirements and standards.


  • Providing Quality Training: You will develop and deliver training programs to enhance employees’ understanding of quality systems and processes. This includes ensuring personnel meet certification requirements for specific quality assurance standards.


  • Ensuring Regulatory Compliance: You will ensure the company adheres to all relevant regulatory requirements, including obtaining necessary approvals from regulatory bodies and maintaining compliance with license conditions.


  • Implementing Quality Assessments: You will oversee quality assessments for structure development and production, including Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Design & Process Key Characteristics.


  • Defining and Monitoring Quality Inspections: You will define work orders for quality inspections and ensure follow-up in alignment with the agreed Control Plan.


  • Managing Non-Conformances: You will address non-conformances, including those related to subcontracted parts, by conducting audits and utilizing tools such as Practical Problem Solving (PPS).


  • Supporting Key Quality Gates: You will provide support during critical manufacturing and integration milestones, such as key readiness reviews.


  • Compiling Product Data Packages: You will assist in compiling structure product data packages, including definitions, justifications, inspection records, and certifications.


  • Conducting First Article Inspections: You will support First Article Inspections to verify the product design aligns with the as-built configuration.


Qualifications


  • 10+ years experience in quality management


  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing quality management systems, managing quality audits and inspections, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.


  • Extensive experience in at least one of: CFRP processes, electronics design, and software development


  • Leadership and management skills: you should have strong leadership and management skills to effectively manage and motivate teams


  • Previous quality experience within the Aerospace sector


  • Demonstrable expertise and knowledge in quality management through certifications such as ISO 9001 or AS9100
