EA within New Start-Up to CEO

There’s something about start-ups, isn’t there? It has a newness that’s hard to replicate in an established business: new people, a buzz, excitement, and potential of what could be.
But then there are different types of start-ups; there are the crazy ones where you take ALL the risk to make it work – these are the ones you read about in Biographies from people who turned their ‘laptop on the bed’ ideas into world-beating firms and exited for a Trillion Dollars.
These types of roles are not for the faint-hearted. They could work, or they could fail, and as an Executive Assistant, there’s not much you can do to guarantee success if the future depends on a $150m funding round.
But on the other side of the coin, there’s a different type of start-up.
These are ones created by hugely successful, proven entrepreneurs who took risks earlier in their careers, sold the businesses, made money and now, with the calmness of success, resources, and lessons, make new moves.
This client is one of those. A brilliantly successful, proven UHNWI who is now ready to make their next moves. And the moves are good, some would say ‘like Jagger’ as they create the next chapter of their already hugely successful career.
With new offices in W1 about to open and a team being assembled, there’s just one missing piece of the jigsaw (right now): an Executive Assistant/Office Manager to ensure everything stays on track.
With new hires joining imminently on various newly created teams, the newly appointed CEO needs a right-hand person to navigate the newness.
As an EA, you’ll have a proven track record in this area, you’ll be the calm, and if you’ve worked within a start-up previously and have the experience to call upon, then that’s great. The CEO is moving from a bigger company and will have lessons to learn as well, so you can work together and be the Robin to the Batman as things get moving.
Your duties, not that you need me to tell you, will be everything you’d expect, plus the things that we don’t know yet. Despite the previous success, as with any new business, there will be things that come up we haven’t thought about, and you’ll be the ‘go-to’ person who has the answers when people have the questions.
You’ll be an integral part of the new team; you’ll be the person in the middle of the hub and how the role evolves over the coming months and years will depend on you.
If you have the depth of experience of supporting a C-Level person, a provable ability to cope within a start-up environment and are ready to unleash your experience, then this could be a role that could support you.
Given the urgency of the role, we are unable to consider people with extended notice periods (no longer than four weeks), and ideally, this would suit someone ready to start straight away
