**Job summary**:

- We are looking to appoint a Validation Officer Land Systems within the Defence School of Electronic and Mechanical Engineering (DSEME) operating from MOD Lyneham, Wiltshire.- This position is advertised at 37 hours per week**Job description**:

- The post holder will work within a mixed team consisting of MOD Civil Servants, Contracted Staff, and Military personnel, and will be responsible to the Head of Exam Centre and Internal Validation Dept (EC&IV). The key tasks of the Department are as follows:

- a. Internal Validation: Management of the Internal Validation process to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the Training Delivery conducted by DSEME Lyneham.
- b. Accreditation: As an Approved Accreditation Centre, operate within the Awarding Body’s qualification frameworks, to deliver regulated qualifications, in accordance with set standards and Quality Assurance requirements.
- c. Examination Management: Manage and direct effective verification and moderation assessment control, complying with the relevant course documentation in accordance with Joint Service Publication 822 (JSP822). Liaise with DSEME Training Design Team staff to support the production and continued relevancy of Assessment Strategies, Assessment Specifications and assessment methods.**Person specification**:
Assessment Processes & Procedures:
a. Manage and direct effective assessment control, complying with the relevant Assessment Strategy, JSP 822 Part 4;
b. Manages the Schools production of course work and results required to ensure adherence to external Awarding Organisations policies and procedures;
c. Carry out internal quality assurance actions to assure the quality of invigilation, marking and assessment services provided by contract staff;
d. Prepare and set theory assessments as required by DSEME Training Delivery schedule, to ensure appropriate and effective test and assessment methods are valid, reliable and fair, in order to evaluate the transfer of learning against course learning objectives.
Ensure examination question banks are maintained, adequate marking guides are available and associated documentation are in good order to ensure the continuing validity of assessment activity against training objectives.

e. Moderate/internal quality assure assessments upon completion.

f. Generate re-sit assessments where required.

g. Ensure all assessment results are recorded on Training Management systems.

h. Carry out First Day Programme (FDP) briefs to trainees detailing quantity and type of examinations for the course, where required.

i. Carry out miscellaneous administration functions in support of EC & IV Department as detailed by HOD EC & IV.

Internal Validation:
Manage the data collection and evaluate data from end of phase training and facilitation of student end of course discussions.

Desirable Experience/Skills.
(1) Some relevant experience and knowledge of internal verification processes and familiarity with Accrediting Organisations policies and procedures. (2) Knowledge of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
(3) Relevant experience of working in a training environment.

Desirable Qualifications.
(1) Job holder to hold a relevant qualification, or served a recognised apprenticeship in a electronic or mechanical discipline.
(2) Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
(3) Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Processes and Practice or be willing to complete within 12 months of taking up post.
