**POST**: Employment, Education and Training Officer

**RESPONSIBLE TO**: Support Services Manager

**HOURS**:Average 37.5 per week, 9-5 when working Monday - Friday, 7-3/12.15-20.15 when working weekends in accordance with the organisational rota.

**ORGANISATIONAL AIMS**:
1. To provide temporary hostel accommodation to homeless people

2. To develop a range of accommodation options and individual capacity building

**3. **To manage the Association and its projects with good practice and within statutory guidance.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**1. **Employment and Volunteering: To recruit, assess and support services user’s who are currently distant from the workforce to overcome barriers and work towards sustainable employment. Specific responsibilities**

a) To actively promote Aspire with service users and prospective partnerships to achieve the desired outcomes.

b) To assess and support service users to overcome barriers and work towards accessing employment/volunteering opportunities in 1-1 and group context, whilst responding to individuals needs and ability.

c) To develop and deliver regular employability sessions and support sessions to develop skills including CV writing, interview skills workshops.

d) To source local business partners in order to provide relevant work placement, volunteer and employment opportunities.

e) To establish and maintain relationships with external services.

f) To develop and build on the project’s profile

g) To assist in facilitation of workplace visits for participants of the project, internally & externally.

h) To co-ordinate volunteer/work place placements.

i) To help oversee the time credits initiative.

**2. **To organise, develop or source training programs to meet specific training needs. To access basic and general skills development opportunities and implement non-accredited and accredited learning and development programmes to all residents as appropriate**. **Specific responsibilities.**

a) To develop formalised training pathways with service users and form action plans

b) To research, plan, organise and deliver basic and general skills development initiatives for both individuals and group contexts through a variety of delivery methods.

c) To develop and update a menu of non-accredited and accredited training and education sessions and pursue certification for completed accredited work where appropriate.

d) To identify and develop training aids such and use appropriate training methods dependent on individual and group learning needs.

e) To establish and maintain professional relationships with external education and training providers.

f) To liaise and collaborate with partner organisations and education and training providers in order to promote their services, develop on-site sessions and refer to.

g) To promote learning sessions and programmes working with team members to widen participation.

**3. **To provide practical assistance and advice on a range of issues and services at the drop-in centre. **Specific responsibilities**:
a) To manage and ensure the smooth running of the drop in facility.

b) To provide advice to service users regarding a range of internal and external services.

c) To provide regular organisational inductions for service users.

d) To liaise with other staff to ensure the appropriateness of recreational development to service user aspirations and support plans.

**4.** **Activities & Life Skills-** **To plan and facilitate a variety of recreational activities aimed at improving physical and mental health; interpersonal skills; and the development of hobbies and interests. Specific responsibilities**

a) To plan, develop and deliver a regular schedule of activities, life skills programmes, special events and outings focussed around the five ways to well-being and work with team members to increase service user engagement.

b) To respond to the recreational needs of service users with different levels of ability residing in the association accommodation and incorporate service users views in the development of activities.

c) To liaise and collaborate with agencies regarding access to and use of external services, arrangements for inter-hostel activities, competitions and tournaments.

d) To promote external services and arrange for them to provide information and drop in sessions for service users.

e) To supervise individuals and groups ensuring orderly conduct and compliance with Health & safety rules and regulations at the YMCA and external venues.

f) To ensure the care of facilities and safe storage of equipment, other supplies and sundry items; to monitor depleting supplies and place orders.
